Turn on product comparison

Shoppers pick up to four products from product cards, specification tables and product pages, then see them side by side. Lensatic also lists a whole collection as a specifications table, and shows on each product page how it ranks among products of the same type.

Turn it on

  1. Set up your specifications first. See Set up product specifications.

  2. In the theme editor, open Theme settings > Specifications and turn on Enable product comparison.

How shoppers compare products

  • A Compare checkbox shows on product cards, in specification tables and on product pages.
  • A bar at the bottom of the screen lists the products picked, up to four, with a Compare button and Clear.
  • The comparison opens side by side: specifications first, then what each product is made for, then the type and availability. Only differences hides the rows that are the same for every product.
  • For each specification with a Better value, the best one is marked, for example the lightest.

The selection stays while shoppers browse, also in other tabs, until they clear it.

Note

Products of different types can be compared too. A note explains that some rows don't apply to every product, and a value a product doesn't have shows as Not listed.

The specifications table

Every collection can also show as a table. Shoppers switch between Grid and Specs above the products.

  • The table has one section for each product type, with a column for each specification.
  • Shoppers sort by price and by any specification with numbers, add to cart and pick products to compare without leaving the table.
  • It shows 250 products per page. Sorting by a column sorts the products on that page, so in bigger collections shoppers filter first to sort all of them.

The table uses the collection.specs template, which comes with the theme. Its Specifications table section has the same filter and sort settings as the product grid.

How it compares, on product pages

The How it compares section places each specification of a product among the products of the same type in its collection, for example The second lightest of 6 in Ice screws. Its link opens the specifications table for that type.

The section hides itself when the product has no specifications, when there's no other product of the same type to compare with, or when the collection has more than 250 products.
