Set up the activity finder
The activity finder lets shoppers start from what they do, such as rock or ice climbing. They pick an activity, narrow it by your Made for values, such as terrain or skill level, and open the collection already filtered.
How it works
- Each activity is a tile with an image. One is selected when the page loads.
- Under the tiles, the Made for values of that activity's collection show with the number of products for each, plus an Any choice.
- A summary counts the products that match, and the button, for example Show 20 products, opens the collection with those filters applied. Reset starts over.
Add the finder to the home page
-
In the theme editor, open the home page and add the Activity finder section, or select the one that's already there.
-
Add an Activity block for each activity and choose its Collection, for example a collection of ice climbing gear.
-
Add an Image for each activity. A photo of the activity works better than a product shot.
-
Turn on Selected when the page loads for the activity shoppers should see first.
Large screens show three to five activities in a row. An activity without a collection only shows in the theme editor, as a placeholder.
Let shoppers narrow an activity
The finder narrows by the Made for values you set in Theme settings > Specifications, such as terrain and level. For them to show:
- Set up the Made for metafields. See Set up product specifications.
- Add the same metafields as filters in the Search & Discovery app. See Add collection filters.
Note
Without Made for filters, the finder still works: shoppers pick an activity and open its collection.
